- 5 Straps at a time
Purchased by a kitchen work surface manufacturer the VP5 Strap Poka allows packs of laminated board to be driven into the unit thereby simultaneously placing five polyester straps around the pack in less than 10 seconds.
The complete operation involves draping straps from the top gantry into the strap gripper located at the front of the unit at ground level. Wooden battens are then placed on top of the strap and located between ‘C’ beams on the base. The pack is driven into the straps and placed onto the battens, and the strapping operation is completed using polyester strapping and friction weld strapping tools.
There are now two of these strapping machines in operation at the plant.
The key benefits were summarized as an immediate reduction in manpower to the extent that payback was achieved in just two months. There were other key issues however such as the purchase and after sales costs of conventional strapping machines and the expense of re-organising the plant that would have been necessary to suit the use of these machines, that made the decision to use Strap Poka Pallet Strapping Machines easy.
